Creating Standalone Volunteer Opportunities in Thundertix Transcription:

Hi everyone, my name is Callie, and I'm a member of the ThunderTix customer support team. Today, I’m going to walk you through how to create a stand-alone volunteer opportunity in ThunderTix. A stand-alone volunteer opportunity is one that is not connected to a performance or event. For example, you might use this for a volunteer who comes in once a month to organize the prop closet, or someone who stops by weekly to help with administrative or office tasks. Stand-alone opportunities are ideal for ongoing or independent volunteer needs like these.

To get started, the first thing you’ll want to do is create the volunteer role. Go to the Volunteer Manager tab in the left-hand menu and click Roles. Once there, click New Role. If the role you need already exists, you can skip this step. For this example, we’ll create a role called Prop Organizer, add a brief description—such as “once-a-month opportunity to clean out the prop closet”—and list any requirements for the role. For now, we’ll note “mobile” as the requirement. You can also choose an optional label color; we’ll stick with black for this example. Then click Save.

Once your role is created, go back to Volunteer Manager and then choose Stand-Alone Opportunities. Click Create Opportunity, and from the menu that appears, select the role you just created. Enter the number of volunteers needed per occurrence—let’s say two people, depending on the size of your prop closet. For the opportunity title, we’ll use Prop Closet Organizer. Under Recurring Pattern, you can choose whether the opportunity repeats one time, daily, weekly, or monthly. For this example, we’ll choose monthly, set the start date to the 27th, and have it repeat until December 22nd. Adjust the time so volunteers come in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then click Create Opportunity.

You’ve now created your first stand-alone volunteer opportunity. The only remaining step is to assign volunteers to it, which works the same way as assigning volunteers to any opportunity tied to an event or performance. If you have any questions about volunteer management or stand-alone volunteer opportunities, please feel free to submit a support request, and someone from our team will be happy to help. Thank you for watching.
