How to Create a Hybrid Seating Event (General Admission + Reserved Seating)

Hi, my name is Courtney, and I am on the customer support team here at ThunderTix. And today, we are going to talk about creating an event that uses a hybrid seating chart.

You’re going to have general admission and reserved seating, and you’re going to create an event for each of those.

To start, we’re going to do our general admission event. Go to Events → Event Manager → Create a New Event. In the event basics tab, add the name — for example, Into the Woods (General Admission) — and set the capacity to 50. Set the date and time (e.g., this weekend at 8 p.m.).

For ticket types, start with a General Admission ticket for $25. Add your address and venue, then click Finish.

Now that we have our general admission event, we’ll create our reserved seating event. Go back to Event Manager, click Create Event, and use the same name (Into the Woods). This time, choose a seating chart (for example, Base Size Test Chart) and the same date and time.

Add ticket types by section: Adult ($50), Child ($30), and Senior ($40). You can edit or assign them to different sections later. Add your venue and finish the setup.

Now you have both events — General Admission and Reserved Seating. Next, link them together to form your hybrid setup. Make the general admission event semi-private so only the reserved seating version appears publicly.

Once linked, only one Into the Woods event will appear on your public page. Patrons can choose either reserved seats or general admission when purchasing.

If you prefer to disable certain ticket types for specific sections, you can remove them — for example, exclude child tickets from section B.

Finally, verify that the reserved and general admission sections appear correctly under Tickets and Prices.

Hopefully, this helps clarify how to set up a hybrid seating event in ThunderTix. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, and thank you for watching!
